The basic principle of operation of the inertial filter is to accelerate the particulate material contained in the process gas in a vector
direction with sufficient velocity to prevent the particles from sticking to the walls of the sampling tube and extract a gas sample to be
transported to a gas analyzer
General Specifications (All Models):
Enclosure Insulated NEMA Type 12
Sample Pump Single-head aluminum TFE coated
Stinger Probe Durinert® coated 3 foot standard (other lengths available)
Ambient Temp Range +33-104°F (1-40°C)
Heated Enclosure Temp 400°F (204°C)
Baldwin Inertial Filter Probe with Durinert® Coating

Land Instruments International:
The ChillerProbe™ combines a high performance heated filter unit, with an advanced
sample cooler to clean and dry the flue gas right at the sampling point. The main benefit
being that only dry sample gas is transported to the analyzer.
In addition, the probe is fitted with a heated blow-back system which purges the pre-filter
and probe tube with hot compressed air at pre-determined intervals. This action ensures
that the sampling system is kept clear, even with wet, dusty process conditions.
The probe is fitted with an internal digital data bus link, which enables remote setup,
configuration and output of key operating parameters.
Large area heated ceramic filter
2-stage sample cooler and dryer system
Heated blow-back to maintain clean probe and filter
Remote digital control from analyzer
Sample Conditioning:
Particle filter: Heated unit with replaceable element
180 °C / 356 °F suitable for most applications
280 °C / 536 °F for applications where ammonia is
present in the flue gas
Filter element: 1.0ěm ceramic
Sample cooler: 2-stage cooler system (incorporating Peltier unit) with
automatic condensate removal
Blow-back:
Method: Heated, filtered, compressed air
Trigger: Internal timer; External trigger (via digital link);
Manual (push button); +24 V external drive
Temperature: 150 °C / 300 °F
Timer interval: 15 minutes to 24 hours user selectable
Duration: 3 secs.
Control System:
Communications: Remote control via RS 485 digital link

Sick|Maihak:
The sampling system SCP3000 was designed with the specific needs of the cement industry in mind. An aperture on the gas extraction probe is
designed specifically to extract gas with a particularly low dust contnt from the rotary kiln.
This sample gas is then purified further in a heated gas filter and supplied to the analysis system. The dust filter and the gas extraction
pipe can be cleaned using compressed air on a regular basis or whenever the need arises. The gas extraction probe is mounted on a motorized
retraction device. If a malfunction occurs, the probe is retracted automatically to protect it from damage.
All control and monitoring functions are then carried out by a programmable logic controller (PLC).
Probe length 2,500 / 3,000 / 3,500 / 4,000 mm
(98.4 / 118.1/ 137.8 / 157.5 in), depending on insertion depth
Probe material High-grade steel (1.4841)
Extraction aperture lateral; diameter: 15 mm (0.6 in)
Process temperature up to max. 1,400 °C (2,552 °F)
Probe cooling agent water; 2.5 bar (36.3 PSI); 0.4 m3/h (14.1 ft3/h), max. 3 m3/h (106 ft3/h)
Dust filter Glass fiber; 0.1 µm; heating up to 180 °C (356 °F); adjustable; valves for backflushing, test gas and shut-off are located
in the heated part
Backflushing automatically; with compressed air; 2-step (through and above the filter element
Compressed air supply 6…8 bar (87 ... 116 PSI), purified compressed air (free of oil, dust and water)
Rotation device Rotation angle ±45°; pneumatic piston drive

Tyco Environmental Systems:
The sample probe conditions the
flue gas, providing a clean, dry
and cooled sample gas direct to
the analyser.
The sample gas passes through the particle filters.
The HPSS4200 is suitable for flue gas temperatures up to 1700 deg C (3100 deg F) and is enclosed in a stainless steel IP65/NEMA 4 enclosure.
The probe has a range of pre-filters and heated filters suitable for high dust loadings. Continuous sampling, heated filter temperature control
and continous condensate monitoring and removal complement these options.
